Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
